Re: Pedro Obiang
Our domestic record this year shows;

When he doesn't start, we nearly always lose, we he starts, we win.

He brings the whole team together with his tackling, simple distribution and mobility. He's an excellent player.

Re: Pedro Obiang
I love that Slav has found a system that fits in our best players. Obiang was way overdue a run in the team, but Noble and Kouyate last season had central midfield pretty much tied up.

Re: Pedro Obiang
He has to start currently and he's been a revaluation. Speaking to several others yesterday about his cameos last season where people were bemused by his lack or appearances considering his contribution is huge. He's also freeing Noble to play his game.

Re: Pedro Obiang
he's perfect as the holding player yet he still tries to get forward when possible, and what a shot and save from begovic

Pedro O'Biang
An example to some others
Kept working when he was out of the team without complaining and waited for his chance. Has been excellent

West Ham in domestic competitions this season:

When Pedro Obiang plays: WWDWWW

When Pedro Obiang doesn't play: LLLLL

In fairness, I think he came into the team at the right time. I like him. Think him and Noble work well together.

What a player

Was immense last night. Breaks up play time after time as well as being superb on the ball and intelligent knowing when to get forward and be an attacking threat

One of the first names on the teamsheet now. Not selling him in the summer may be one of the best bits of business we did

Re: Pedro Obiang
Immense player. He's work rate and ability to break things up is excellent. We need to keep hold of this lad.

I'm really not sure why anyone including Bilic would be surprised. A good run in the side is what he needed last year I felt but maybe he just hadn't settled into the pace of the game here.
I have to say I think he's a terrific player. Good for him that he's taking his opportunity.

I don't think it was a surprise to anyone who watches us regularly. He's always been a very good player. Most of us thought he was criminally underused last season.

Re: Pedro O'Biang
Loads of us we're saying all last season that he was the answer to during us up - he wasn't even brought off the bench in matches to help us hold on to leads when he was the obvious answer

I love bilic but I do think there's an obstinate streak to him. Obiang wasn't his signing (was agreed when bigbsam was still here, a Sullivan signing if ever there was one) and I've always felt like he's been left out because bilic didn't want him, much like Antonio for the first 4 months or so when he was first here. And in both cases we've resorted to them when we've got desperate and so far it's paying dividends, to the extent that you end up thinking 'why didn't we do that sooner'.

With obiang, the other thing that annoyed me was that in the Europa league games when when he was picked, Pedro played further forward with kouyate holding when it was blatantly obvious that obiang is far more suited in a deeper/box to nicks role and kouyate was far happier further up the pitch.

So pleased he's taken his chance though - with Fernandez breaking trough as well it all looks quite promising at the moment!

Re: Pedro O'Biang
There were plenty who saw his ability last year and I think it he was criminally under used. There's a saying that'the good, is the enemy of the great', in some ways that applied to us last year. We had a good season, but weren't ruthless in pursuing a better one. Obiangs omission is the best example of it.

Another thing is shows is how toxic it is on here to discuss central midfielders. It's almost as if by saying one player is very good, you're insinuating that another player is bad.
